Purpose

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide service information and parts requirements for approximately 1050 vehicles that were built with a one-piece design rear main oil seal assembly. The one-piece design seal has a stamped steel carrier with an integrated Teflon seal.

If a 2000-2001 vehicle equipped with one-piece design stamped steel seal assembly requires service, the one-piece design seal needs to be replaced with the previous two-piece design cast aluminium carrier seal assembly (P/N 21006927). Four new bolts (P/N 11513762), which are 20 mm long, will also be required to install the two-piece design cast aluminum carrier seal assembly.

For complete rear main oil seal replacement procedure, refer to the "Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal Replacement" procedure in the Engine Mechanical section of the 2000-2001 S-Series Engine Service Manual.
