Sunroof Glass and Sunroof Glass Seal Removal and Installation Procedure

This bulletin provides the Sunroof Glass and Sunroof Glass Seal removal and installation procedures, which were not included in the initial printing of the 1996 Body/Repair service Manual.

1. Power the sunroof to the VENT position.
2. Remove the screws attaching the sunroof glass to guide assemblies, lift the glass out of the roof opening.

Notice: Do not cycle the sunroof to the fully closed position without the glass being installed or damage to the guide assemblies will occur.

1. Position the sunroof glass onto the guide assemblies and align the mounting holes.
2. Apply Loctite™ Threadlocker 222 or equivalent to the sunroof glass attaching screws and install. Do not tighten sunroof glass attaching screws at this time.
3. With the sunroof in the CLOSED position, adjust the sunroof glass to 1 mm (0.40 in) below the roof surface at the front of the glass and 1 mm (0.40 in) above the roof surface at the rear of the glass.

Tighten
Tighten the sunroof glass attaching screws to 3 N·m (35 lb in).

1. Power the sunroof to the VENT position.
2. Remove the screws attaching the sunroof glass to the guide assemblies, lift the glass out of the roof opening.

Notice: Do not cycle the sunroof to the fully closed position without the glass being installed or damage to the guide assemblies will occur.

3. Remove the sunroof glass seal by pulling it off of the sunroof glass, starting at the splice joint.

1. Starting at the rear center of the sunroof glass, begin installing the seal by pushing it onto the edge of the glass panel and gently pulling on it while installing.



2. Approximately 102 mm (4 in) prior to completing the installation, lay the end of the seal over the top of the beginning of the seal. Cut the seal so there is an extra 3.18 mm (1/8 in) of the seal past the point where the seal lines up with the beginning.
3. Apply Locktite™ 410 PRISM Toughened Instant Adhesive or equivalent to the splice joint where the 2 ends meet.
4. With approximately 102 mm (4 in) of seal unattached, push the 2 ends of the seal together at the glue joint.
5. Install the remainder of the seal by pushing the seal onto the edge of the sunroof glass. The 3.18 mm (1/8 in) of extra seal material should provide a tight seal at the splice joint.



6. Position the sunroof glass onto the guide assemblies and align the mounting holes.
7. Apply Loctite™ Threadlocker 222 or equivalent to the sunroof glass attaching screws and install. Do not tighten sunroof glass attaching screws at this time.
8. With the sunroof in the CLOSED position, adjust the sunroof glass to 1 mm (0.40 in) below the roof surface at the front of the glass and 1 mm (0.40 in) above the roof surface at the rear of the glass.

Tighten
Tighten the sunroof glass attaching screws to 3 N·m (35 lb in).
