    â€¢ Use appropriate safety equipment such as:
       - Safety glasses
       - Safety shoes
       - Gloves
    â€¢ Keep work area and tools clean.
    â€¢ Clean the transaxle exterior before removing parts.
    â€¢ Do not use wipe cloths or rags.
    â€¢ Do not use solvent on:
       - Rubber seals
       - Clutch plates
       - Sensors, trans. range switch
       - Seal rings
    â€¢ Blow out all passages with compressed air.
    â€¢ Clean out small passages with fine wire.
    â€¢ Handle parts carefully to prevent damage.
    â€¢ Lubricate all internal parts with ATF during assembly.
    â€¢ When installing screws, bolts or studs into aluminum, always dip the threads in ATF.
    â€¢ Always use a torque wrench for proper torque.
    â€¢ Recondition damaged or stripped aluminum threads with thread inserts.
    â€¢ Replace all gaskets and O-ring seals - do not use gasket cement or sealers except where specified in the procedure.
    â€¢ Do not clean aluminum transaxle components in any type of caustic solvents.

Inspection Procedure

    â€¢ Manual linkage for:
       - Wear at pivoting points
       - Bent or broken links
    â€¢ All seals, gaskets, O-rings and mating surfaces for:
       - Nicks
       - Cuts
       - Damage
    â€¢ Snap rings for:
       - Expansion or compression
       - Distortion
       - Nicks
