Rear Side Door Stationary Window Replacement Coupe
Removal Procedure
Notice: Place protective covers on body to prevent paint damage.
Notice: To protect paint from damage, tape quarter panel along/under quarter glass encapsulation
using a thick tape.
- Open the door and disengage the clips for the rear side door upper trim panel.
- Disengage the clips for the rear side door opening frame upper rear blackout
filler and remove.
- Remove the rear side door lower trim panel. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the retaining bolts from the window.
- Remove the window from the door by applying outward pressure to the inside of
the window. Use a heat gun around the window edges to soften the Butyl-tape if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- If using the existing window, remove all of the old Butyl-tape from both
the glass and the pinch weld area with a plastic scraper or appropriate tool, being
careful not to scratch the ELPO.
- Remove the Butyl-tape residue with a general purpose adhesive cleaner.
- Clean the glass to be installed with a glass cleaner.
- Position the Butyl-ribbon sealer in the channel area of the window starting
and stopping the sealer on the bottom channel of the glass. Allow for a 10 mm
(25/64 in) overlap of the Butyl-ribbon sealer.
- With the glass at room temperature, align the glass with the body opening
and the bead of Butyl-ribbon sealer. Press the glass into position.
- Use firm hand pressure around the glass perimeter to assure a good seal
between the glass and the Butyl-ribbon sealer.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the retaining bolts in the order as shown.
Tighten
Tighten the rear door quarter window retaining bolts
(Coupe) to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Close the doors and water-test the window to ensure no waterleaks are
present.
- Install the rear side door lower trim panel. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the rear side door opening frame upper rear blackout filler. Engage
the clips by pushing the molding at the clip locations.
- Install the rear side door upper trim panel. Engage the clips by pushing the
molding at the clip locations.
- Close the door.
Rear Side Door Stationary Window Replacement Sedan/Wagon
Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Partially remove the upper door frame inner seal at the location of the
stationary window.
- Peel back the water deflector at the bolt access hole and remove the bolt
from the stationary window.
- Remove the stationary window.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the stationary glass and fasten with the bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the door stationary glass (Sedan/Wagon) to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Replace the water deflector at the access hole location.
- Install the upper door frame inner seal, sliding it down around the window.
- Install the rear door trim panel. Refer to
