Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 859248  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear side door handle and disengage the upper latch cable. Refer to Release Handle - Rear Door .

  2. Object Number: 868576  Size: SH
  3. Remove the upper trim panel. Refer to Upper Extension Trim Panel Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 859206  Size: SH
  5. Disengage the plastic clip from the cable by rotating the clip away from the cable.
  6. Remove the cable from bracket on the latch by prying with a screwdriver while the latch is installed to the door.
  7. Remove the cable from the rear side door handle opening so the insulator comes out with it.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 868048  Size: SH
  1. Install the barrier to the cable.
  2. Remove the upper latch. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .
  3. Route the cable into the door from the upper latch location. Locate the barrier between the garnish molding attachment holes in the pillar.

  4. Object Number: 859206  Size: SH
  5. Install the cable to the latch by engaging the plastic clip and then pressing the cable into the bracket on the latch.

  6. Object Number: 868025  Size: SH

    Important: Be sure to route the cable under the cable guide feature of the handle.

  7. Install the cable to the rear door handle.
  8. Install the upper latch. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .
  9. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 859248  Size: SH
  10. Install the rear door release handle. Refer to Release Handle - Rear Door .
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the rear door release handle fasteners (Coupe) to 2.5 N·m (23 lb in).

  12. Check the operation. Both the upper and lower latches must release prior to the handle reaching the end of its travel.
