Loss of Air Flow Through Right Side Air Vent Outlet and/or Rattle Coming From Right Side of I/P

Customers may comment that there is reduced/restricted air flow coming from the right side of the air vent and/or a rattle type noise coming from the right side of the instrument panel in the vent area.

Knee beam liner, located behind the right side air vent outlet, may have come loose. If liner comes loose, it may slide sideways and block air flow or may rattle.

Reinstall the liner back into its proper location and add retainer clip.

1. Verify restricted air flow or rattle.

•	If either complaint can be verified, proceed to step 2.

•	If neither complaint can be verified, it may be necessary to gather further information from the customer to assist with proper diagnosis.




2. Remove the right endcap assembly.

2.1.	Remove the fasteners from the right endcap assembly.

2.2.	Remove the right endcap assembly from I/P assembly.

2.3.	Disconnect the right door jamb switch connector in the right endcap assembly.




3. Inspect the knee beam liner position.

•	When the knee beam liner is installed correctly, liner opening matches knee beam structure opening as shown in illustration.





•	If the liner is out of position, the liner opening will be smaller than the knee beam structure opening as shown in illustration.





Notice: Do not spread fingers too far apart or the clip will work its way loose.

Important: If retainer clip installation effort is too high, modify internal "fingers" slightly until retainer clip can be installed.

4. Snap the knee beam liner back into position as shown in illustration. Install the retainer clip P/N 21303269 on the left side of the opening.





5. Reinstall the right endcap assembly.

5.1.	Connect the right door jamb switch connector to the right endcap assembly.

5.2.	Install the right endcap assembly in to I/P assembly.

5.3.	Install the right endcap assembly fasteners.
