Removal Procedure

    Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

  1. Hoist the vehicle.
  2. Remove the resonator and muffler assembly. Refer to Muffler Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 927713  Size: SH

    Important: Support the fuel tank before removing the fuel tank strap bolt.

  4. Remove the fuel tank strap bolt, which also fastens the rear shield.
  5. Important: The front and rear heat shields overlap and utilize common rivet attachment points.

  6. Remove the rivets.
  7. Remove the shield.

Installation


    Object Number: 927713  Size: SH
  1. Position the shield to the vehicle, aligning the front rivet locations which are common attachment points with the front heat shield.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the fuel tank strap bolt and tighten.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel tank strap bolt to 25 N·m (19 lb ft).

  5. Install the rivets
  6. Install the resonator and muffler. Refer to Muffler Replacement .
