Removal Procedure

    Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to CELL .
  2. Drain the engine oil.
  3. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 896100  Size: SH
  5. Remove the oil pan baffle bolts.
  6. Remove the oil pan baffle.
  7. Clean the following components:
  8. • The oil pan
    • The oil pan housing
    • The gasket surfaces

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 896100  Size: SH
  1. Install the oil pan baffle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the oil pan baffle bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan baffle bolts L81 to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

    Important: Refer to Oil Pan Replacement . Application of RTV and oil pan alignment is critical.

  5. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Refill the engine with 4.73 L (5 qt) of oil.
