J 45482 Debris Screen
Removal Procedure
- Lift and support the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 3.0L (L81).
- With support, install the J 45482.
- Disconnect the EI module harness connector.
Important: To avoid getting water and debris into the spark plug holes, use compressed
air and shop rag to blow off the ignition module before the assembly is removed.
Important: Bolts can be screwed into the ignition module to aid when removing the module
from the cylinder head.
- Remove ignition module attachment bolts.
- Remove ignition module housing assembly with spark plug boots.
- Remove ignition module assembly gasket if it does not come out with module.
Installation Procedure
- Install gasket to ignition module.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Apply dietectric compound to spark plug boots and make sure no corrosion is
present.
Tighten
Tighten the ignition module bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install ignition module housing assembly with spark plug boots into position,
then install bolts.
- Connect EI module harness connector. Push in connector until locking position
is felt, then pull back to confirm engagement.
- Remove the J45482.
- Install intake manifold assembly. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 3.0L (L81).
- Connect negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Reset clock and preset radio stations.
