J 39194-C Oxygen Sensor Wrench

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 956223  Size: SH

    Important: Bank 1 are cylinders 1, 3, 5 which are closest to the front of the dash.

  1. Turn ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor 2 harness connector.
  3. Notice: Removal of the sensor is easier if the exhaust system is slightly warmed up. Be careful that the exhaust is not hot to work on safely. Moving the sensor back and forth while applying penetrating oil to the threads will aid in removal and will decrease the chance of exhaust pipe thread damage.

  4. Use liquid penetrate before removing sensor.
  5. Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

  6. Raise the vehicle.
  7. Remove heated oxygen sensor 2 using the J 39194-C .

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound Saturn P/N 21485279 (or equivalent) to threads of the heated oxygen sensor 2.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install heated oxygen sensor 2 using the J 39194-C (or equivalent).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten HO2S-2 (sensor-to-exhaust pipe) to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect heated oxygen sensor 2 harness connector. Make sure locking tab is in the full closed position.
  7. Start engine and make sure no exhaust leaks exist.
