with 3.5L V-6 Engine (VIN 4 - RPO L66)

Condition

Some customers may comment that the ABS telltale is illuminated. There may be a DTC C0036 stored in the EBCM.

Cause

The harness for the left front wheel speed sensor from the EBCM may be chafing on the transaxle end cover.

Correction

Repair chafed wires and reposition left front wheel speed sensor harness to prevent chafing on the transaxle end cover.

Service Procedure
  1. Verify that DTC C0036 is set in EBCM.
  2. Inspect left front wheel speed sensor harness for chafing near the transaxle end cover.
    3. • If wiring harness is chafed, repair wiring. Refer to the appropriate "Wiring Repairs" procedure(s) in the Wiring subsection of the Body section of the 2004 Saturn VUE Service Manual, Vol. 2 (SI Document ID #897944). After repair, position wiring harness away from transaxle end cover.
    • If wiring harness is not chafed, perform diagnostic procedure for DTC C0036 in the Antilock Brake System subsection of the Brakes section of the 2004 Saturn VUE Service Manual, Vol. 1 (SI Document ID #1258101).
  3. Verify repair and clear stored DTC.
