Removal Procedure

    Caution: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.

  3. Object Number: 934648  Size: SH
  4. Remove the retainers from the connector position assurance (CPA) and disconnect the electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the nuts and remove the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 934648  Size: SH
  1. Remove any dirt, grease, or other contaminants from the mounting surface.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the SDM to the vehicle with the nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  7. Important: If you do NOT perform the body control module (BCM) programming procedure, the vehicle option content information which is read by the BCM may be incorrect and a DTC B1001 Option Configuration Error will set in both the SDM and the BCM. This will illuminate the AIR BAG telltale.

  8. Reprogram the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems.
