Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the front and rear windshield wiper washer switch OFF.

Do the windshield wipers remain in the park position?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Are the rear wipers always on?

Go to Step 4

  1. The rear wipers are always ON.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the rear wiper relay.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Do the rear wipers remain in the park position?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the rear window wiper relay control circuit and the accessory voltage side of the rear wiper relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test the rear window wiper relay control circuit for a short to voltage.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. The front wipers are always ON.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the harness connector of the windshield wiper washer switch.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Do the wipers stop?

Go to Step 11

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the harness connector C2 of the body control module (BCM).
  3. Connect a test lamp from the rear window wiper switch signal 1 circuit and battery voltage at the BCM.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the harness connector of the windshield wiper washer switch.
  3. Test the rear window wiper switch signal 1 circuit for a short to voltage.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 19

Test the windshield wiper motor high speed circuit and the windshield wiper motor low speed/mist circuit for a short to voltage.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 19

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Reconnect the windshield wiper washer switch connector.
  3. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Do the wipers stop?

Test the windshield wiper motor high speed circuit and the windshield wiper motor low speed/mist circuit for a short to voltage.
