A ping, snap, or click is usually heard on initial load after the transmission is in gear, either forward or reverse.

Upper and lower control arms have loose bushing bolts.

A loose fixed yoke or companion flange

Tighten bolts and pinion nut to specified torque. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .

Worn or damaged universal joints

Replace universal joints. Refer to Universal Joint Replacement - External Snap Ring .
