Chrome Peeling Off The Accessory Brush Guard - keywords bolt bumper corrosion front grill mount washer

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Based on various VUE Accessories Brush Grille Guards (P/N 17801713) returned to the GM Warranty Parts Center (WPC) for the chrome peeling, it was determined that a number of installations took place without utilizing all of the hardware in the kit. In particular, there are eight (8) nylon washers that are used in conjunction with metal fasteners and washers to secure this product to the vehicle (refer to step 5 in the instructions). These washers are required to eliminate the potential for galvanic corrosion (due to dissimilar metals).

When installing the chrome brush guard on the vehicle, it is important to utilize all the components in the kit (especially the nylon washers) during installation.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
