This bulletin is being revised to include symptoms for the AM radio band and add models. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 06-08-44-016B (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).
Some customers may comment on poor audio quality (poor reception or static) when listening to AM or FM radio.
The poor reception or static is due to poor quality at high frequency audio tones.
This condition may be caused by a software issue.
DO NOT REPLACE THE RADIO.
Notice: It is important to always use the correct calibration file when programming a radio. Never use a calibration file intended for another radio RPO in an attempt to resolve a concern. Using an incorrect file may result in permanent damage to the radio. To select the correct calibration file, first determine the radio RPO (U1C, US8 or US9), and then determine if the vehicle is equipped with an audio amplifier (WBM, UZ6 or UQ3).
Important: Chevrolet and Pontiac dealers - DO NOT use pass-thru programming from the DVD.
Reprogram the radio with the latest available calibrations. A calibration first became available on TIS2Web on April 3, 2006, which only addressed an FM reception/static issue. This calibration has been updated to include AM band improvement, effective April 2, 2007. These calibrations are also available on the TIS DVD version 4.0/2007 or later, that was mailed to dealers on 4/12/07.
Refer to Radio Setup in SI for more information on reprogramming the radio.
After reprogramming, use the Tech 2® to confirm the correct VIN is in the radio.
