J 44811 Accessory Belt Tensioner Unloader

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 951829  Size: SH

    Caution: The tensioner assembly's internal parts are not serviceable. To avoid injury, do not disassemble the tensioner.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle on the hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the right wheel and the splash shield.
  4. Install the J 44811 onto the tensioner.
  5. Remove the accessory drive belt.

    Important: To remove the tensioner bolt an access hole has been provided through the inner and outer engine rail.

  7. Remove the tensioner assembly.
  8. Remove the tensioner bolt.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 894941  Size: SH
  1. Install the tensioner assembly and bolt, if removed.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  3. Route the belt around the alternator and the A/C compressor.

  4. Object Number: 951829  Size: SH
  5. Install the J 44811 onto the tensioner and unload spring tension from the tensioner while positioning the belt.
  6. Release the tensioner and remove the tool.
  7. Install the right engine inner splash shield.
  8. Install the right wheel and hand tighten the wheel nuts.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel nuts 125 N·m (92 lb ft).

  11. Connect the negative battery cable
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolt 17 N·m (23 lb ft).
