Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  2. Remove the timing belt idler pulley. Refer to Timing Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  3. Remove the oil flow control module. Refer to Oil Flow Control Module Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 1236204  Size: SH
  5. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 897071  Size: SH
  7. Remove the oil pump pickup tube.
  8. Remove the oil pump bolts (423).
  9. Remove the oil pump (424).
  10. Clean the oil pump sealing surfaces if pump is to be reinstalled.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 897071  Size: SH
  1. Install NEW O-rings (427) onto the oil transfer pipe (428).
  2. Install the pipe (428) into the block.
  3. Apply sealant evenly to the block mating surface of the oil pump housing and to the inner threads of the bolt holes. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers for the correct part number.
  4. Install the pins (426).
  5. Install a NEW O-ring (426).
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the oil pump assembly and bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  9. Install a NEW O-ring.
  10. Install the oil pump pickup tube.
  11. Install the oil pump pickup tube bolts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  13. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  14. Install the oil flow control module. Refer to Oil Flow Control Module Replacement .
  15. Install the timing belt idler pulley. Refer to Timing Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  16. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
