The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event be performed for a complete repair.

ECM Replacement

If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:

  1. ECM Reprogramming--Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
  2. Crankshaft Position (CKP) Variation Learn--Refer to one of the following:
  3. •  Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 2.2L engine
    •  Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 2.4L engine
  4. Brake Pressure Sensor Learn (Hybrid Vehicles Only)--Perform the Brake Press. Sensor 2 Learn using Scan Tool ECM special functions.

ECM Reprogramming

If the ECM needs to be reprogrammed, refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .

Setup for Component Replacement

The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.

If any of the following components are replaced, a CKP Variation Learn Procedure must be performed. Refer to one of the following:

    • Engine replacement
    • Any engine repair that disturbs the CKP sensor or it's relationship with the crankshaft reluctor wheel
    • CKP sensor
    •  Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 2.2L engine
    •  Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn for the 2.4L engine
