Caution: To help avoid personal injury, be careful when working in the vicinity of the generator battery disconnect control module. Internal components will still be live, 36V potential, even when the cover has been opened or removed.

1. Disconnect the hybrid battery. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect .
2. Remove the driver and passenger side rear compartment load floor stowage tray retainers (1, 3).
3. Remove the driver and passenger side rear compartment load floor stowage tray (2, 4).
4. Carefully remove the driver and passenger side foam insulator.
5. Remove the left side rear quarter lower trim panels. Refer to Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel Replacement .



6. Remove the 36 volt negative battery cable lead nut (8) from the body stud.



7. Remove the generator battery fuse (1) from the negative battery stud.



8. Disconnect the generator battery wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the body wiring harness electrical connector (2).
9. Remove the cable shield lead nut (3) and cable lead (4) from the carrier.
10. Remove the 36 volt positive battery cable lead nut (6).
11. Remove the 36 volt positive battery cable lead (5).



12. Fold down the rear seat back.
13. Remove the rear seat rear bolts.



14. Remove the generator battery front bolts (1) at the shock towers.
15. Pull the generator battery carrier towards the rear of the vehicle and carefully remove the carrier from the vehicle

1. Carefully install the generator battery carrier to the vehicle.
2. Loosely install the generator battery front bolts (1) at the shock towers.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




3. Install the rear seat rear bolts.

Tighten

1. Tighten the rear seat rear bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
2. Tighten the generator battery bolts at the rear shock towers to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
4. Lift up the rear seat back.



5. Install the 36 volt positive battery cable lead (5) to the generator battery.
6. Install a NEW 36 volt positive battery cable lead nut (6). Start the nut finger tight, and then torque to the specification given.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

7. Install the cable shield lead (4) and the nut (3) to the carrier.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

8. Connect the generator battery wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the body wiring harness electrical connector (2).



9. Install the generator battery fuse (1) to the negative battery stud.



10. Install the 36 volt negative battery cable lead and nut (8) to the body stud.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).




11. Carefully install the driver and passenger side foam insulator.
12. Install the driver and passenger side rear compartment load floor stowage tray (2, 4).
13. Install the driver and passenger side rear compartment load floor stowage tray retainers (1, 3).
14. Install the left side rear quarter lower trim panels. Refer to Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel Replacement .
15. Connect the hybrid battery. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect .
