The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

B1001 set current in the SDM and the SIR light is on.

  1. The B1001 set after programming the BCM
  2. The B1001 set after replacing the SDM.

The BCM stores the last four digits of the SDM part number, and the SDM store the whole SDM part number. If the last four digits of the SDM part number do not match in both the BCM and the SDM, a B1001 code will set and the SIR light comes on.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. If the B1001 set after programming the BCM, it will be necessary to perform the "Setup New SDM" using the Tech 2. Follow the path listed below.
  2. Diagnostics / 2006 or 2007 / LD Trk, MPV, Incomplete / Saturn / Z / Body / Supplemental Inflatable Restraint / Module Setup / Setup New SDM.

  3. If the B1001 set after replacing the SDM, verify with the parts department that the correct SDM part number was installed. If the correct part number SDM was installed, it will be necessary to perform the "Setup New SDM" using the Tech 2. Follow the path listed below.
  4. Diagnostics / 2006 or 2007 / LD Trk, MPV, Incomplete / Saturn / Z / Body / Supplemental Inflatable Restraint / Module Setup / Setup New SDM.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
