The electronic control module (ECM) will set this DTC when the electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects a loss of commincations with the ECM, transmission control module (TCM), or body control module (BCM). This DTC will only set with other loss of communcations DTCs.
The ignition switch is in the ON position and the engine is running.
The EBCM detects a loss of communications.
One or more of the following actions may occur:
• | The Antilock Brake System (ABS)/dynamic rear proportion (DRP) are disabled. |
• | The ABS/TCS/ESC indicators turn ON. |
• | The MIL Warning indicator turns ON. |
• | The condition for the DTC is no longer present and the DTC is cleared for the ECM or EBCM with a scan tool. |
• | The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |

DTC U1FFF will set with additional DTCs as result of EBCM communications failure.
Verify that the DTC U1FFF is set, and diagnoses any additional U codes.
