DTC Descriptor
DTC P1AE8: Drive Motor 1 Control Module Hybrid Battery Voltage Sense Circuit Low Voltage
DTC P1AE9: Drive Motor 1 Control Module Hybrid Battery Voltage Sense Circuit High Voltage
DTC P1AEA: Drive Motor 2 Control Module Hybrid Battery Voltage Sense Circuit Low Voltage
DTC P1AEB: Drive Motor 2 Control Module Hybrid Battery Voltage Sense Circuit High Voltage
Circuit/System Description
The drive motor generator power inverter module (PIM) contains two motor control modules (MCM). Each MCM monitors its internal high voltage sensor for correct operation.
Conditions for Running the DTC
• | Ignition voltage is 8-18 volts. |
• | The high voltage contactor relays are closed. |
Conditions for Setting the DTC
P1AE8 and P1AEA
The motor control module (MCM) detects high voltage sensor voltage less than 0V.
P1AE9 and P1AEB
The motor control module (MCM) detects high voltage sensor voltage greater than 564V.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
• | DTCs P1AE8, P1AE9, P1AEA and P1AEB are Type B DTCs. |
• | The hybrid powertrain control module (HPCM) commands the battery energy control module (BECM) to open the high voltage contactor relays. |
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTCs P1AE8, P1AE9, P1AEA and P1AEB are Type B DTCs.

Circuit/System Verification
- Clear the DTC information.
- Turn the ignition OFF for 1 minute.
- Turn the ignition ON.
- Retest for DTCs P1AE8, P1AE9, P1AEA and P1AEB.
Circuit/System Testing
Ignition ON, retest for DTCs P1AE8, P1AE9, P1AEA and P1AEB.
⇒ | If the DTC resets, program the PIM with the latest software version and recheck for DTCs. If the DTC resets after programming or if the PIM already contains the latest software version, replace the PIM. |
