Removal Procedure

  1. Record the preset radio stations.
  2. Turn the ignition to OFF.

  3. Object Number: 895892  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  5. • Engine Harness Connection (1)
    • Battery Feed (2)
    • Starter Motor (3)
    • Starter Solenoid (4)
  6. Raise the vehicle.
  7. Remove the 2 starter solenoid harness connector attachment nuts.
  8. Remove the lower starter assembly to the engine block bolt.
  9. Remove the upper starter assembly to the engine block bolt.
  10. Move the starter right to clear the engine block, then left to remove the starter from the flywheel housing.
  11. Disconnect the CKP Sensor harness connector.
  12. Remove the CKP sensor attachment bolt and remove the CKP sensor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 895906  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the CKP sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the CKP sensor in the engine block and attachment bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position sensor bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the CKP sensor harness connector. Push in the connector until a slick is heard, then pull back to confirm a positive engagement.
  6. Install the starter into the flywheel housing and align the bolt holes.

  7. Object Number: 895784  Size: SH
  8. Install the upper and lower starter assembly to the engine block bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the starter-to-engine bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  10. Install the 2 starter solenoid harness connections and attachment nuts.
  11. Tighten

        • Tighten the B+ cable to starter nut (large) to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
        • Tighten the starter solenoid harness nuts (small) to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
