J 45482 Debris Screen
Removal Procedure
- Remove intake manifold assembly. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
.
- Install the J 45482.
- Disconnect each EI module harness connector.
Important: To avoid getting water and debris into the spark plug holes, use compressed
air and shop rag to blow off the ignition module before the assembly is removed.
Important: Bolts can be screwed into the ignition module to aid when removing the module
from the cylinder head.
- Remove the ignition module attachment bolts.
- Remove ignition module housing assembly with spark plug boots from spark
plugs.
- Remove ignition module assembly gasket if it does not come out with module.
- Remove spark plugs.
Installation Procedure
Important: Spark plugs are pre-gapped. If spark plug is dropped it should be replaced.
- Install the spark plugs.
Tighten
Tighten the spark plugs to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install a new gasket to the ignition module.
- Apply dielectric compound to spark plug boots and make sure no corrosion
is present.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install ignition module housing assembly with spark plug boots into position.
Tighten
Tighten the ignition module bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Connect EI module harness connector. Push in connector until locking position
is felt and pull back to confirm a positive engagement.
- Remove the J 45482.
- Install intake manifold assembly. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
