J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.

  3. Object Number: 948926  Size: SH
  4. Remove battery box air duct.

  5. Object Number: 948958  Size: SH
  6. Remove condenser radiator fan module (CRFM) closeout panel.

  7. Object Number: 932369  Size: SH
  8. Remove receiver/dehydrator (RD) line from condenser.
  9. Install protective cap to RD line to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.

  10. Object Number: 932379  Size: SH
  11. Remove compressor hose from condenser.
  12. Install protective cap to the compressor hose to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.

  13. Object Number: 948980  Size: SH
  14. Remove upper CRFM bracket and mount assembly.
  15. Lift condenser while holding upper retention tabs forward and remove condenser.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 949047  Size: MH
  1. Check radiator to condenser seal for proper position.
  2. Install condenser by guiding lower and upper tabs into retention clips on radiator and pressing down to snap into place.

  3. Object Number: 948980  Size: SH
  4. Install upper CRFM bracket and mount assemblies.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install upper CRFM bracket bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Remove protective cap from the compressor hose and install a new sealing washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  9. Install compressor hose to condenser with the nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  11. Install new seal washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  12. Install the RD line to the condenser with the nut.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  14. Install CRFM closeout panel.

  15. Object Number: 948926  Size: SH
  16. Install battery box air duct.
  17. Install front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  18. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  19. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400-A .
