Installation of 12V Accessory Outlet to Left Rear Interior Wheel Opening Service Replacement Panel Assembly

Due to the removal of the 12 V accessory outlet on the left rear interior wheel opening panel the service replacement part may not have the 12 V accessory outlet hole pre drilled into the panel assembly. There are scribe lines on the back side of the service panel that show where the 12 V accessory outlet is to be located. Refer to the following installation procedure in this bulletin to retrofit a service panel to accommodate a 2002 VUE with the 1 2V accessory outlet in the left rear interior wheel opening panel assembly.

1. Use a 25.4 mm (1 in.) hole saw and remove most of the material from the inner part of the circle.
2. Use dremel tool (or similar) or round file and remove remaining material until circle scribe line is removed.
3. To remove material for locating tab, use edge of square file and remove material to scribe line.
4. From the finished side of the panel insert power accessory retainer.
5. Align the tab on the retainer with the slot in the hole.

Important: If there is difficulty in inserting retainer, note on backside of panel where retainer is interfering with the panel and trim the panel accordingly.

6. With the accessory power retainer installed, insert the accessory power receptacle in from the front side of the panel until it is seated in the retainer.

To receive credit for this repair during the warranty coverage period, submit a claim through the Saturn Dealer System for C4061 (Panel, Quarter Wheelhouse Trim - R&R or Replace). An "add time" condition is provided to drill a hole in the trim panel for the 12 V accessory outlet.
