SMU for 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manuals Regarding Removal and Installation for Liftgate Emblem

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide a removal and installation procedure for liftgate emblems and to update all 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manuals at your location.

Please obtain all 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manuals and make the necessary update as indicated below.

1. Make photocopies of pages 2 - 3 of this bulletin.
2. Insert photocopy of pages 2 - 3 between pages 326 and 327 of the 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manual.

Service Manual update for 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manuals. Refer to Technical Information Bulletin 02-T-00. May, 2002.

1. Using a heat gun apply heat to liftgate emblem until emblem is warm to touch.
2. Gently pull liftgate emblem and adhesive away from liftgate.
3. Clean remaining residue from liftgate using an adhesive remover.

1. Make sure emblem mounting surface on liftgate is clean.



2. Refer to correct illustration in this bulletin for emblem locating dimensions.

Important: IMPORTANT: The dimensions provided in the illustrations represent arc length measurements taken over the arc or curved shape of the liftgate.

3. Using the correct illustration as a guide align emblem with liftgate.
4. Remove backing tape from emblem and position emblem on liftgate.
5. Apply moderate pressure to each emblem character for a minimum of 5 seconds.
6. Gently remove protective covering from emblem.

To receive credit for this repair during the warranty coverage period, submit a claim through the Saturn Retailer System for B8700 (Emblem and/or Name Plate, Rear End Panel - Replace).
