Condition
Some vehicles may be unable to send or receive cellular phone calls and cannot
connect to the OnStar® Call Center following a disconnected ("dropped") cellular
phone call during an OnStar® configuration attempt. When calling the OnStar®
Call Center, an "unable to contact OnStar" message will be heard. If any other message
is heard, this bulletin does not apply.
Cause
This condition may be caused by an internal software error.
Correction
Use the following procedure to reset the OnStar® communications and interface
module (CIM).

- Perform the "Preferred System Setting" procedure found in the "OnStar
Special Functions" menu of the scan tool.
1.1. | Highlight option line "B, then A"(if not already highlighted). |
1.2. | Press "Enter" to put an asterisk next to the option (if the asterisk isn't
already present). |
1.3. | Press the "Save Options" key. |
- Once the "Preferred System Setting" procedure has been performed, move
the vehicle outdoors and contact the OnStar Call Center to have the system configured.
