SMU for 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manuals Regarding Revised Headlamp Removal and Installation Procedure

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide a revised headlamp removal and installation procedure and to update all 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manuals at your location.

Please obtain all 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manuals and make the necessary update as indicated below.

1. Using a marker or pen, cross out the existing "Headlamp" removal and installation procedure on pages 110 and 111.
2. Next to the item crossed out in step 1, write in the following:

"Refer to Technical Information Bulletin 02-T-00"

3. Make photocopies of pages 2 - 4 of this bulletin.
4. Insert photocopy of pages 2 - 4 between pages 110 and 111 of the 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manual.

Headlamp Removal

1. Remove side marker-to-body fastener.
2. Lift side marker up and out of fascia to free lower attaching tabs.
3. Rotate side marker bulb socket assembly counter clockwise and remove it from housing.



4. Remove side marker lamp.



5. Remove headlamp bracket-to-structure fasteners.



6. Insert flat-blade screwdriver through opening in upper structure. Make sure screwdriver tip fits through opening in headlamp bracket lower arm.
7. Gently push locking tab toward rear of vehicle with screwdriver to detach headlamp bracket lower arm.
8. Carefully lift headlamp assembly up.
9. Disconnect electrical connectors from headlamp bulb assemblies.
10. Remove headlamp assembly.

Headlamp Installation

1. Connect electrical connectors to headlamp bulb assemblies.



2. Carefully lower headlamp assembly into position. Ensure headlamp bracket lower arm snaps into bracket located on vehicle structure.
3. Install headlamp bracket-to-structure fasteners.

Tighten
Tighten the Headlamp Bracket-to-Structure Fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in)

4. Insert side marker bulb assembly into side marker lamp housing.
5. Rotate side marker bulb assembly clockwise until seated.



6. Align lower attachment tabs of side marker housing with front fascia notches. Lower side marker housing into position.
7. Install side marker-to-body fastener.
