Service Manual Update for 2002 VUE Engine Service Manuals Regarding Fuel Level Sender and Float

Models Affected

All 2002 Saturn VUE vehicles

Purpose

The purpose of this bulletin is to update all 2002 VUE Engine Service Manuals at your location. Please obtain all 2002 VUE Engine Service Manuals and make the update as indicated below.

  1. Using a marker or pen, cross out the existing "Fuel Level Sender and Float" service procedure on page 701 and 702.
  2. Make photocopies of page 2 of this bulletin.
  3. Insert photocopy of page 2 between pages 700 and 701 in the 2002 VUE Engine Service Manual.

Fuel Level Sender And Float Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 934024 Size: SH

    Important: There are two fuel level sender unit and float assemblies in the fuel tank. There is one located on each fuel pump module. The fuel level sender unit and float is NOT the same for each of the fuel pump modules.

  1. Remove fuel tank. (Refer to "Fuel Tank" removal procedure in this section.)
  2. Remove fuel pump module with defective fuel level sender and float. (Refer to "Primary Fuel Pump Module" or "Secondary Fuel Pump Module" removal procedure in this section.)
  3. Disconnect fuel level sender unit and float electrical connector.
  4. On secondary module assembly use a pick to press down on the silver connector and disconnect ground wire from fuel pressure regulator.

  5. Use a small screwdriver to release the double-sided snap lock feature shown in the exploded view.
  6. Remove fuel level sender card by sliding card down.

Fuel Level Sender And Float Installation Procedure
  1. Install fuel level sender unit and float onto fuel pump module. Make sure that sender card snaps into place.
  2. Connect fuel level sender unit and float electrical connector.
  3. On secondary module assembly connect ground wire to fuel pressure regulator.
  4. Install fuel pump module into fuel tank. (Refer to "Primary Fuel Pump Module" or "Secondary Fuel Pump Module" installation procedure in this section.)
  5. Install fuel tank. (Refer to "Fuel Tank" installation procedure in this section.)

Warranty Information

To receive credit for this repair during the warranty coverage period, submit a claim through the Saturn Dealer System for J6355 (EE Prom-Reprogramming [Install New PCM Calibration]), or if another procedure is performed, refer to the appropriate Electronic Labor Time Guide for the correct Labor Operation Code and Time. When another procedure is performed that requires EE Prom Reprogramming, J6355 must be claimed as a "Related Line" to that Repair.

Diagnostic time is to be claimed as straight time using labor operation J9995 and submitted as a "Related Line" to the repair.
