Subject: | Service Manual Update -- Lower Control Arm Ball Stud Nut Torque Specification Changes |
Models: | 2002-2005 Saturn VUE Vehicles |
Purpose
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform Saturn retailers of the availability of a new lower control arm ball stud. This new part results in a change to the torque specification for the lower control arm ball stud nut in "Fastener Tightening Specifications"
(SI Document ID #1242737), "Lower Control Arm Replacement" procedure (SI Document ID #1242574) and "Steering Knuckle Replacement" procedure (SI Document ID #1242572). Technicians must first identify the type of ball stud, then select
the specification corresponding to that application. A new notice statement requiring identification of the type of ball stud applies to all references to the lower control arm ball stud.
Notice: There are 2 different ball studs used on this vehicle. The ball stud type must be identified in order to use the correct torque value when tightening the ball stud nut. If the wrong torque is used, damage may occur to the ball
stud.
