The purpose of this bulletin is to inform Saturn retailers of changes to several bolt torque specifications for the 2002-2003 VUE rear suspension.
There are new specifications for the trailing arm bushing-to-bracket bolt torque, which depend on the size of fastener installed.
Please go to Step 5 in the "Trailing Arm Bracket Installation" procedure (page 475 in the printed 2002-2003 Saturn VUE Chassis Service Manual, SI Document ID #1563411) and cross out the entire step. Make copies of the following information and place it in the manual.
Important: There are two different trailing arms and trailing arm bolts used on this vehicle. You must identify which is on the vehicle and use the corresponding torque value.
5. Tighten the trailing arm bushing-to-bracket nut and bolt.
Tighten
• | If the bolt is a M12 bolt, tighten the bolt to 110 N·m (81 lb-ft). |
• | If the bolt is a M14 bolt, tighten the bolt to 160 N·m (118 lb-ft). |
Please go to Step 5 in the "Trailing Arm Installation" procedure (page 477 in the printed 2002-2003 Saturn VUE Chassis Service Manual, SI Document ID #1563406) and cross out the entire step. Make copies of the following information and place it in the manual.
