The passenger compartment air filter traps most of the pollen from the air entering you vehicle. Like your vehicle's engine air filter, it will need to be changed periodically.

A substantial reduction in air flow indicates that the filter needs to be replaced. See Maintenance section in this handbook to find out how to replace the passenger compartment air filter. To find out what type of filter use, see "Replacement Parts."

To remove the passenger compartment filter:

  1. Open the hood of your vehicle. The access panel for the passenger compartment air filter is located on the passenger side of the cowl grill, at the base of the windshield.

  2. Object Number: 1554854  Size: B3
  3. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to remove push pin fasteners from filter access panel.

  4. Object Number: 1554856  Size: B3
  5. Remove any debris in the filter area such as leaves or pine needles.
  6. Depress retaining tab outward and remove filter.

  7. Object Number: 1554858  Size: B3
  8. Install the new filter, noting the airflow direction arrow on the filter and snap in place.
  9. Install filter access panel with push pin fastener.
