Windshield Washer Nozzles Do Not Spray Washer Fluid (Replace Washer Nozzles)

Some customers may comment on inoperative windshield washer nozzle(s). Nozzles may not washer fluid.

This condition may be caused by the washer nozzle coming apart.

Install new windshield washer nozzles.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Open hood to access wiper arm fasteners.
2. Remove wiper arm fasteners.
3. Lift wiper arm assembly away from windshield and remove wiper arms from pivot shafts.



4. Remove right side air inlet grille fasteners.
5. Lift up right side air inlet grille and disconnect washer hose from nozzle.
6. Depress nozzle retaining tabs on under side of air inlet grill and pull nozzle up to remove.



7. Remove left side air inlet grille fasteners.
8. Lift up left side air inlet grille and disconnect front washer nozzle hose from front nozzle.
9. Depress nozzle retaining tabs on under side of air inlet grill and pull front nozzle up to remove.
10. Separate front nozzle hose from front washer solvent container hose that runs along upper motor compartment rail. Remove front nozzle hose.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Connect front nozzle hose to front washer solvent container hose that runs along upper motor compartment rail.
2. Install front nozzles into air inlet grilles.
3. Connect front washer nozzle hoses to front nozzles.
4. Install left and right side air inlet grilles.



5. On driver's side, position wiper blade assembly at tick mark in the lower portion of the windshield blackout strip.
6. On passenger's side, position wiper blade assembly at tick mark in the A-pillar portion of the windshield blackout strip.
7. Install wiper arm nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the Front Wiper Arm Retaining Nut to 15N·m (11 ft-lbs) + 180°.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Remove rear center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL) from liftgate.
2. Disconnect rear washer nozzle hose from rear nozzle.
3. Rotate rear washer nozzle 45° counter-clockwise and remove nozzle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Insert rear washer nozzle into CHMSL and rotate 45° clockwise to lock nozzle into position.
2. Connect rear washer nozzle hose to rear nozzle. Soapy water may be used as a lubricant to aid in assembly.
3. Install rear CHMSL to liftgate.

Tighten
Tighten the Center High Mount Stop Lamp-to-Liftgate Fastener to 1N·m (9 in-lbs).

To receive credit for this repair during the warranty coverage period, submit a claim through the Saturn Dealer System for B1790 (HOSES, NOZZLES OR STOPS, WIPER FRONT -- REPAIR OR REPLACE) and B1791 (HOSES, NOZZLES OR STOPS, WIPER REAR -- REPAIR OR REPLACE), or if another procedure is performed, refer to the appropriate Labor Time Guide for the Correct Labor Operation Code and Time.
