Important:
⢠| 2006 model year and later engines use a second design timing belt drive sprocket and powertrain control module (PCM). |
⢠| The second design drive sprocket is NOT interchangeable with the first design 2004-2005 applications. |
- Inspect the drive belt sprocket and identify for proper usage.
⢠| The 2004-2005 applications use a first design sprocket with rectangular shaped teeth (1). |
⢠| The 2006 and later applications use a second design sprocket with trapezoid shaped teeth (2). |
Important: The PCM must perform the idle learn procedure to determine the minimum throttle position and to establish idle speed when any of the following components are replaced:
⢠| Timing belt drive sprocket |
⢠| Crankshaft and bearings |
Refer to
Idle Learn
.
- Install the key (123) and sprocket (237).
- Install the guide (236).
- Install the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor (704) and harness (701).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the guide (703), nuts (702), and bolts (730).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts and bolts to 9.8 NĀ·m (87 lb in).
- Rotate the crankshaft to align the mark (2) on the sprocket (237) with the pointer (1)
on the oil pump housing.
