This bulletin is being updated to delete the timing belt replacement and transfer assembly fluid replacement from 25,000 mile service. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-00-90-002 (Section 00 - General Information).


Important: This service bulletin is not applicable to Saturn retailers in Canada.

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide Saturn retailers with new warranty administration information.

Note: Visually inspect brake lines and hoses for proper hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc. Inspect disc brake pads for wear and rotors for surface condition. - Check engine coolant and windshield washer fluid levels and add fluid as needed.

- Inspect engine air cleaner filter. If necessary, replace filter.

Note: If car is driven under dusty conditions regularly, inspect the filter at each engine oil change.

 

 

 

- Inspect suspension and steering components.

Note: Visually inspect front and rear suspension and steering system for damaged, loose, or missing parts or signs of wear.

 

 

 

- Inspect engine cooling system.

Note: Visually inspect hoses and have them replaced if they are cracked, swollen, or deteriorated. Inspect all pipes, fittings, and clamps; replace with genuine Saturn parts as needed. A pressure test of the cooling system and pressure cap and cleaning the outside of the radiator and air conditioning condenser is recommended at least once a year.

 

 

 

- Inspect wiper blades.

Note: Visually inspect wiper blades for wear or cracking. Replace blade inserts that appear worn or damaged or that streak or miss areas of the windshield.

 

 

 

- Inspect restraint system components.

Note: Verify safety belt reminder light and all belts, buckles, latch plates, retractors, and anchorages are working properly. Have safety belt repaired if needed. Replace any torn or frayed safety belts. Repair or replace any open any opened or broken airbag coverings.

 

 

 

- Lubricate body components.

Note: Lubricate all key lock cylinders, door hinges and latches, hood hinges and latches, glove box hinges, sunroof (if equipped), and any folding seat hardware. More frequent lubrication may be required when exposed to a corrosive environment. Applying silicone grease on weather-strips with a clean cloth will make them last longer, seal better, and not stick or squeak.

 

 

 

- Replace passenger compartment air filter.

Note: Or every 12 months, whichever comes first. If car is driven under dusty conditions regularly, the filter may require replacement more often.

 

 

 

- L4 Engine: Inspect throttle system.

Note: Check system for interference or binding and for damaged or missing parts. Replace parts as needed. Replace any components that have high effort or excessive wear.

Note: Visually inspect front and rear suspension and steering system for damaged, loose, or missing parts or signs of wear. Inspect power steering lines and hoses for proper hook-up, binding, leaks, cracks, chafing, etc.

 

 

 

- Inspect engine cooling system.

Note: Visually inspect hoses and have them replaced if they are cracked, swollen, or deteriorated. Inspect all pipes, fittings, and clamps; replace with genuine Saturn parts as needed. A pressure test of the cooling system and pressure cap and cleaning the outside of the radiator and air conditioning condenser is recommended at least once a year.

 

 

 

- Inspect wiper blades.

Note: Visually inspect wiper blades for wear or cracking. Replace blade inserts that appear worn or damaged or that streak or miss areas of the windshield.

 

 

 

- Inspect restraint system components.

Note: Verify safety belt reminder light and all belts, buckles, latch plates, retractors, and anchorages are working properly. Have safety belt repaired if needed. Replace any torn or frayed safety belts. Repair or replace any open any opened or broken airbag coverings. The airbag system does not need regular maintenance.

 

 

 

- Lubricate body components.

Note: Lubricate all key lock cylinders, door hinges and latches, hood hinges and latches, glove box hinges, sunroof (if equipped), and any folding seat hardware. More frequent lubrication may be required when exposed to a corrosive environment. Applying silicone grease on weather-strips with a clean cloth will make them last longer, seal better, and not stick or squeak.

 

 

 

- Replace passenger compartment air filter.

Note: Or every 12 months, whichever comes first. If car is driven under dusty conditions regularly, the filter may require replacement more often.
