Accessory Belt Tensioner Unloader
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
Caution: The tensioner assembly's internal parts are not serviceable. To avoid injury,
do not disassemble the tensioner.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Raise the vehicle on the hoist. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the right wheel and the splash shield.
- Install the
J 44811
onto the tensioner.
- Remove the accessory drive belt.
Important: To remove the tensioner bolt an access hole has been provided through the inner and outer engine rail.
- Remove the tensioner assembly.
- Remove the tensioner bolt.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the tensioner assembly and bolt, if removed.
Tighten
Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Route the belt around the alternator and the A/C compressor.
- Install the
J 44811
onto the tensioner and unload spring tension from the tensioner while positioning the belt.
- Release the tensioner and remove the tool.
- Install the right engine inner splash shield.
- Install the right wheel and hand tighten the wheel nuts.
- Lower the vehicle.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel nuts 125 N·m (92 lb ft).
- Connect the negative battery cable
Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolt 17 N·m (23 lb ft).
