Circuit/System Description

The floor flood lamps switch is supplied voltage only when the ignition is in the RUN position. When the ignition heated is placed in the RUN position, the floor flood lamps are supplied 12 volts from the seat fuse. The floor flood lamp switch has three settings OFF, Amber, and Blue. When the floor flood lamp switch is placed in the Amber or Blue setting voltage is supplied to the proper lighting circuit to illuminate the appropriate color. There are four Light Emitting Diodes (LED) per front seat (two for the BLUE and two for the AMBER). One set of lights are facing forward and is mounted on the inside or the outer seat track. The other set of LEDs are mounted in the rear of the front seat cushion.

Diagnostic Aids

If one color illuminates and the other does not illuminates test the proper supply circuit for a shout to ground or an open/high resistance. If one lamp illuminates one color and the other does not illuminate inspect the wiring for an open in the floor flood lamp circuits. If no problem is found replace the floor flood lamps assembly.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, observe the lights under the passenger and drivers seats while placing the appropriate front seat flood lams switch in either the BLUE or AMBER setting. Both of the lights under the seat should illuminate in the proper color when commanded.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the floor flood lamp switch.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the connector pins B and D at the front seat flood lamp switch connector and ground.
  3. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the failed circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal E and ground.
  5. If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  6. Ignition OFF, connect the connector at the floor flood lamp switch. Disconnect the floor flood lamps assembly.
  7. Ignition ON, with the floor flood lamp switch in the appropriate position test for B+ voltage on connector pins B and C on the seat lighting switch circuit side of the connector.
  8. If B+ is not present on one or both circuits, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the floor flood lamp switch.
  9. Test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal D and ground.
  10. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the floor flood lamps assembly.

Component Testing

Floor Flood Lamps Switch Back Lighting Test

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the floor flood lamp switch.
  2. Install a jumper wire between the pin E and ground.
  3. Observe the floor flood lamp switch back lighting while installing a 3 amp jumper wire between 12  volts and pin B on the floor flood lamp switch.
  4. If the back lighting does not illuminate, replace the floor flood switch.
  5. Ignition ON remove the 3-amp jumper wire from pin B and connect the 3-amp jumper to pin D on the floor flood lamps switch. Observe the floor flood lamp switches illumination while placing the switch in either the BLUE or AMBER settings.
  6. If the seat lighting switches do not illuminate replace the floor flood lamps switch.

Floor Flood Lamps Assemble Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the floor flood lamps assemble.
  2. Install a jumper wire between the control terminal and ground. Install a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the terminal C to test the AMBER light color and terminal B to test the BLUE light color and 12 volts.
  3. Observe the floor flood lamps assemble for the correct color in the lights.
  4. If one or both lights do not illuminate the proper color, replace the floor flood lamps assemble.
