    • J 44811 Accessory Belt Tensioner Unloader

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
  3. Remove the right wheel and splash shield.
  4. Install the J 44811 .
  5. Remove the accessory drive belt.

  7. Install the J 38122-A .
  8. Notice: The crankshaft damper pulley bolt head and the washer assembly prevents oil leakage at the center of the pulley. Do not damage the sealing surfaces. If the pulley can not be removed by pulling with your hand, use a three-jaw puller.

    Notice: To avoid damage to the front cover assembly, do not pry against the cover.

  9. Remove the crankshaft balancer pulley bolt and pulley. Discard the pulley bolt.

Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the front seal and sealing surface of the pulley with clean motor oil.
  2. Install the balancer pulley onto the crankshaft indexing keyway. Use care to properly align the flats on the balancer pulley with the flats on the oil pump drive in the front cover assembly.
  3. Install the crankshaft damper pulley.
  4. Install a new crankshaft balancer pulley bolt with washer assembly.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the J 38122-A .
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to 100 N·m (74 lb ft) +75 degrees.

  8. Route the belt around the alternator and A/C compressor.

  9. Object Number: 951829  Size: SH
  10. Install the J 44811 onto the tensioner and unload the spring tension from the tensioner while positioning the belt.
  11. Release the tensioner and remove the tool.
  12. Install the right engine inner splash shield.
  13. Install the right wheel and hand tighten the nuts.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel nuts to 125 N·m (92 lb ft).
