The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Manual transmission may be hard to shift into any or all gears. Duplicate the concern using a static shift test i.e. engine off sitting stationary.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. Disconnect shift cables from shifter to help isolate binding condition.
  2. • If the shifter does not bind go to step 2
    • If the shifter does bind, lube the shifter using either low temperature grease p/n12345718 (in Canada p/n 10953516).
  3. Disconnect the shift cables from the transmission to isolate a cable or transmission concern, inspect for proper routing, twisting or kinking per pictures below, and using shifter check for excess drag (friction).
  4. •  If no cable concern are found go to step 3 below.
    • If the cables are routed properly, lube the cables using high temperature grease p/n12345879 (in Canada p/n 10953511).
    •  If the cables are not routed properly, reroute as per pictures below and lube cables using high temperature grease p/n12345879 (in Canada p/n 10953511).
    •  If the cables are kinked or twisted in a fashion that would require replacement, replace the cable or cables and reroute as per the pictures below.
  5. If no shifter or shift cable concerns suspect a possible internal transmission concern.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
