Removal Procedure

    Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

    Important: The EVAP vent solenoid is located on the top of the EVAP canister.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  2. Object Number: 1226414  Size: SH
  3. Remove the EVAP canister bolts.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the evaporative emission EVAP canister vent solenoid valve.
  5. Disconnect the EVAP canister lines.
  6. Remove the EVAP canister from the vehicle.

  7. Object Number: 889735  Size: SH
  8. Rotate the EVAP canister vent valve counterclockwise to release from the locked position.

  9. Object Number: 889736  Size: SH
  10. Remove the vent valve from the EVAP canister.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 889736  Size: SH
  1. Insert the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve into the EVAP canister, with the valve aligned to the released position.

  2. Object Number: 889735  Size: SH
  3. Rotate vent valve clockwise to secure into the locked position.

  4. Object Number: 1226414  Size: SH
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the EVAP canister vent valve.
  6. Connect the EVAP lines.
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the EVAP canister and bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
