Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
  5. Clean the area around the brake master cylinder pressure sensor of any foreign material or debris.
  6. Disconnect the brake master cylinder pressure sensor electrical connector.
  7. Place a clean shop cloth around the brake master cylinder pressure sensor mounting block outlet port brake pipe fitting to absorb any brake fluid.

Procedure

  1. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. DO NOT start the engine.
  3. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle .
  4. Observe the feel of the brake pedal after performing the diagnostic system check. If the brake pedal feels spongy, perform the Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure .
  5. Perform the power brake booster pressure sensor learn procedure. Refer to Engine Control Module Programming and Setup .
