Removal Procedure
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the electrical connector from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS).

    4. Object Number: 1548949 Size: SH
  4. Remove the retaining stud and the VSS. Pull straight out in order to avoid damage to the case.

Installation Procedure
  1. Clean and dry the VSS.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1548949 Size: SH
  2. Install the VSS and the retaining stud.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the stud to 12 N·m (97 lb in).

  3. Install the electrical connector to the VSS.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
