Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn both the front windshield and rear window wiper washer switches OFF.

Are the wipers OFF?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Are the rear wipers always ON?

Go to Step 4

  1. The rear wipers are always ON.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the rear wiper relay.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Are the rear wipers OFF?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the rear wiper relay control circuit and the accessory voltage side of the rear wiper relay at the rear wiper relay socket terminals.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the rear window wiper motor control circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Go to Step 20

  1. The front wipers are always ON.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the harness connector of the windshield wiper washer switch.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Are the front wipers OFF?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the harness connector C2 of the body control module (BCM).
  3. Connect a test lamp between the rear wiper switch signal circuit of the harness connector and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the windshield wiper switch pulse delay signal circuit of the harness connector and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the rear wiper switch signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Test the windshield wiper switch pulse delay signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Repair the windshield wiper motor high speed circuit or the windshield wiper motor low speed circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Wiring Repairs and Connector Repairs .
