Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the rear seat assembly. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement .
  2. Remove the head restraint. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .

  3. Disengage the handle clip from the rear seat recliner by pulling on the locking feature.
  4. Disengage the cable from the recliner assembly.

  5. Remove the shoulder belt fastener and remove the shoulder belt from the cushion.

  6. Release the seat back cover by disengaging the bottom J-strip.

  7. Remove the rear seat back cushion latch release handle fastener, then pull the handle out of the seat back.

  8. Disconnect the rear seat back cushion latch release cable from the handle.

  9. Remove the anchor escutcheon to the child seat tether by gently pulling at the sides of the escutcheon.

  10. Unsnap the shoulder belt bezel from the rear seat back by using a small flat-bladed tool to pry the locking tabs on the outboard side of the bezel. Slide the bezel outboard away from the seat back.

  11. Pull up on the rear seat back cover, carefully disengaging the hook and loop retainers.
  12. Lift the back panel to access the head restraint guides.
  13. Remove the head restraint guides by pinching the tabs at the base of the guide while pulling up.

  14. Remove the child comfort guide, if equipped.
  15. Lift the seat back trim cover off of the rear seat back frame enough to gain access to the cable.
  16. Note the routing of the cable for installation purposes and remove the cable from the seat back.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 986393 Size: SH
  1. Route the shoulder belt and the escutcheon through the rear seat back cover. Install the cover over the top of the seat back.
  2. Slide the inboard bezel tabs onto the seat. Press the outboard side until the bezel snaps into place.
  3. Install and route the rear seat back latch release cable between the back panel and the pad.

  4. Install the head restraint guides by pushing down until the locking tabs engage.

    5. Object Number: 986676 Size: SH
  5. Connect the rear seat back latch release handle to the cable.

    6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the rear seat back latch release handle screw.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  7. Continue to install the seat back trim cover. Engage the hook and loop locations by pressing firmly.

  8. Connect the rear seat back J-hook retainers.

  9. Install the rear seat back latch release handle cable to the clip and release the mechanism.

    10. Object Number: 981956 Size: SH
  10. Install the child tether anchor escutcheon.
  11. Install the head restraint. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement .

    12. Object Number: 986666 Size: SH
  12. Route the shoulder belt through the seat cushion and install with the fastener.

    13. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  13. Install the child comfort guide.
  14. Install the rear seat to the vehicle. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement .
