Subject:Hybrid VUE Instructions For Programming The BCM or Odometer Reads 0 After Replacing The BCM

Models:2007 Saturn VUE Hybrid only

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Instructions for programming the BCM or the odometer reads 0 after replacing the BCM.

Recommendation/Instructions:

  1. To reduce the likely hood of low battery voltage during programming, set the parking brake and then turn the ignition on. This will disable the automatic headlamps
  2. Make sure the "old" BCM is still installed in the vehicle. If the new BCM was already installed and information has already been requested from the new BCM, the BCM may need to be replaced again.
  3. Connect the Tech 2® and CANdi module to the vehicle and RS-232 cable from the PC to the Tech 2®.
  4. In TIS select Pass-Thru programming as the diagnostic tool and Reprogram ECU (do not select Replace and Program) as programming process.
  5. Build the vehicle in TIS.
  6. Select BCM and Normal programming.
  7. Make sure not to install the new BCM until prompted to by TIS.
  8. When TIS does prompt to install the new BCM, make sure NOT to disconnect the Tech 2®
  9. Make sure that the options for the BCM are correct:
  10. • Does the vehicle have ABS?
    • Is the vehicle a 2WD or 4WD?
    • Does the vehicle have cruise control?
    • Does the vehicle have fog lamps?
  11. Make sure the mileage and SDM part numbers are correct. If the mileage or SDM part number displayed is incorrect STOP and contact Techline prior to continuing.
  12. The mileage displayed on the TIS terminal should be correct (at this point the mileage may have to be manually entered if there was no communication with the original BCM or it was not available).

  13. Click OK to accept the original BCM information.
  14. Click OK again to confirm all of the BCM information or change if something is not correct and needs to be updated.
  15. At this point TIS will begin programming the BCM.
  16. Do a 10 minute or 30 minute VTD relearn. Refer to eSI Document ID# 1825248

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
