Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1831947 Size: SH

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury, be careful when working in the vicinity of the generator battery disconnect control module. Internal components will still be live, 36V potential, even when the cover has been opened or removed.

  1. Disconnect the hybrid battery. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect.
  2. Remove the battery carrier assembly. Refer to Generator Battery Carrier Replacement.
  3. Remove the 2 generator battery fan bolts (2).
  4. Remove the 12 generator battery cover bolts (1).
  5. Remove the generator battery wiring harness from the clip (3) on the generator battery cover.

  6. Remove the generator battery cover.

    7. Object Number: 1864889 Size: SH

    Important: Removing the interconnect cables will disable the 36 volts within the generator battery control module.

  7. Remove the generator battery terminal covers (1).
  8. Remove the generator battery cable nuts (2).
  9. Remove and reposition the generator battery cable leads (3, 4, 5) from the batteries.

  10. Remove the generator battery terminal covers (1).
  11. Remove the generator battery cable nuts (2) from the batteries.
  12. Remove and reposition the generator battery cable leads (3, 4) from the battery terminals.

  13. Disconnect the generator battery temperature sensor wiring harness electrical connectors (1) from the battery temperature sensors.
  14. Cut the tie straps securing the battery cables to the generator battery temperature sensor wiring harness.
  15. Remove the generator battery temperature sensor wiring harness.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1864941 Size: SH
  1. Position and install the generator battery temperature sensor wiring harness.
  2. Install the generator battery temperature sensor wiring harness terminals to the battery terminals.
  3. Connect the generator battery temperature sensor wiring harness electrical connectors (1) to the battery temperature sensors.
  4. Install NEW tie straps in order to secure the battery cables to the generator battery temperature sensor wiring harness.

  5. Connect the generator battery temperature sensor wiring harness electrical connectors (2, 5) to the generator control module.

    6. Object Number: 1864940 Size: SH
  6. Position and install the generator battery cable leads (3, 4) to the battery terminals.

    7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the generator battery cable nuts (2) to the batteries.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  8. Install the generator battery terminal covers (1).

  9. Position and install the generator battery cable leads (3, 4, 5) to the batteries.
  10. Install the generator battery cable nuts (2).

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  11. Install the generator battery terminal covers (1).

  13. Install the 12 generator battery cover bolts (1).

    14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  14. Install the 2 generator battery fan bolts.

    15. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  15. Install the battery carrier assembly. Refer to Generator Battery Carrier Replacement.
  16. Connect the hybrid battery. Refer to Hybrid Battery Service Disconnect/Connect
