Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement.
  4. Position a jackstand underneath the lower control arm.
  5. Raise the jackstand slightly to compress the coil spring.

  7. Remove the lower shock bolt and nut.

  8. Object Number: 1829052  Size: SH
  9. Loosen the lower control arm to support frame nut and bolt.

  10. Object Number: 1829056  Size: SH
  11. Remove the lower control arm to knuckle nut and bolt.
  12. Slowly lower the control arm in order to unload the coil spring.

  13. Object Number: 1844035  Size: SH
  14. Remove the coil spring and insulators.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1844035  Size: SH
  1. Inspect the coil spring upper and lower insulators, if damage exists replace the insulators.
  2. If no damage exists, transfer the existing components. Refer to Rear Spring Insulator Replacement.

  3. Position the spring with the rubber insulators into the vehicle.
  4. Raise the jackstand to compress the spring.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1829056  Size: SH
  6. Position the lower control arm to the knuckle and install the nut and bolt and tighten the bolt/nut to 160 N·m (118 lb ft).

  7. Object Number: 1829052  Size: SH
  8. Tighten the lower control arm to support nut and bolt to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).

  9. Object Number: 1828810  Size: SH
  10. Install the shock to the lower control arm nut and bolt and tighten to 110 N·m (81 lb ft).
  11. Remove the jackstand from under the vehicle.
  12. Install the stabilizer shaft link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement.
  13. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
