The PSCM monitors the engine speed validity message from the engine control module (ECM) via the serial data circuit. The PSCM uses this engine speed message, along with the torque sensor and motor position sensor inputs, to determine the desired amount of steering assist.
The ignition is ON.
The PSCM receives an invalid, or no engine speed message from the ECM.
• | DTC C044A 71 is stored in memory. |
• | The DIC displays the POWER STEERING warning message. |
• | Steering assist is set to a default level. |
• | A current DTC will clear when the malfunction is no longer present. |
• | A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles. |
This DTC is for information only. As an aid to the technician, this DTC indicates that their are no problems in the PSCM. The ECM should be checked for a possible fault.
